Tyrannosaurus rex foot. This fossil needs little explanation. See the curved claws at the end of each toe? These weren't likely used as a weapon (T. rex used his dagger-like teeth for that). Probably the claws were used for traction. Some scientists speculate that T. rex was so heavy, he would crack his chest bones if he fell. So getting a good grip was important. And plant eaters like Brontosaurus had big claws too for the same reason. Think of dinosaur claws as football shoe cleats.
